Preparing to Move The Puppies

From the whelping box to the weaning penAs we start the course you will be moving your puppies into the weaning pen, and introducing them to crates for the first time... or not, we’ll tell you how to choose!1.You will learn how to observe the choices your puppies are making to help you judge how they are feeling about their new environment.2.You will learn how and when to make adjustments based on your observations.3.You will learn how to set up your weaning pen so that your puppies choose behaviors you desire (voiding in the litter box, playing in play alley, and resting in the crates).4.You will learn to observe your puppies litter box use and set realistic expectations for it’s use.5.You will learn how to use group feeding to create enthusiasm for eating in your puppies.6.You will learn how to teach your puppies to run into a crate.You will be observing your puppies for the following developmental markers as you gauge their readiness for this week's work. Don’t worry if your litter has not reached a particular developmental milestone, simply wait until they are ready. Remember, different breeds develop at different speeds.1.To move into the weaning pen from the whelping box: Puppies are “bustin out” of the weaning pen, are able to toddle around, and are starting to play and interact with each other.2.To start group feeding protocol: Puppies are drinking/eating eagerly from the food dish.3.To start Crate Entry Games: Puppies taking treats from hand.
